Neil Emery's Mission Profile
Neil Emery
Mission:England, London Mission
Dates:Feb. 1998 - Dec. 1999
Areas:Ipswich, Harrow Long Stratton, South End on Sea, Wimbley
Favorite Foods on Mission: Turkish Kebabs, Chips (English Style)
Favorite British Holiday: Guy Fawkes Day
They call London the melting pot of the world. There was one area that was basically little India. If you got dropped off there blindfolded, you'd never know you weren't in India. There were Sikhs wearing turbons, signs all in Indian, etc. There were a lot of refugees from other countries too like Africa. Once you get outside of London, it gets to be more traditional English people.
I was in an area called South End on Sea, it is called London's playground because it's a resort town. In this area we tracted into a young family. The Dad was really excited about getting his wife and newborn baby involved in what we were teaching. We taught his family the first discussion and shortly after I was transferred out of the area. I found out later that the family was baptized and sealed in the temple. Soon after I found out that the Dad was driving home from a mutual activity on a stormy night and crashed his car and died. Thankfully he accepted the gospel and will be with his family for eternity.
