Howard Hein
The first of the mission profiles is the first person to get me all of his information, AND he is the only family member and/or reader of this blog who shares the same mission as Mike. Howard is Mike's Grandpa's brother (making him his great uncle?) Here is what what Howard sent in:
I served in the Central Atlantic Mission from Sept. 1956 to Sept 1958. This mission comprised the states of North Carolina, Virginia and 8 counties of West Virginia. Mission Home was in Roanoke, Va. All my time was in North Carolina. However when in Mt. Airy we had a couple of Sunday Schools we served weekly that were over the state line in the mountains of Virginia. I served in Kinston, Goldsboro,Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Cherokee, Mt. Airy and Marion. We were required to wear dress hats and our suit coats all the time. We had an all mission conference that Elder Harold B. Lee was assigned. Serving a mission was a great experience. I learned about myself and dealing with others. I had always known the Book of Mormon was true, and that the gospel was true. My testimony was strengthened by mission service.
I have been sent about 8 profiles so far and I will spotlight one a week. If you have not sent it in yet, send it in with pictures if you've got them or I'll be shooting you some threatening e-mails soon. Thanks Howard for sharing your experience with us and being the first to go.
